The serious dimensions that the phenomenon of addiction has taken worldwide and also in our country, require from health and welfare professionals to set up an effective management strategy for the problems of substance use and abuse they face every day. “Addiction Nursing” is an evidence-based academic course that aims to inform and raise awareness among health and welfare students/professionals on issues of trauma informed recovery of individuals with addiction problems as well as family outreach and related interventions. It, also, aims at the continuing education of health and welfare professionals on issues related to addiction and family burden including family violence as well as the training and professional self-development of professionals who work or wish to work in the field of addictions. The ultimate goal of this effort is to create a comprehensive course on issues related to clinical work, education and research in the addiction field, inclusive of family approaches.
